Generally I just needed to change the ending. All the elements were there, but my editor thought they needed to be in a different order, so I went back in, mixed it up a bit, added a bit more to my characters' backstories and toned down a particularly steamy sex scene and I think –hope– that my editor will like the changes.
Took my daughter to the dentist today. She needed a filling and for the first time, I let her go into the room on her own. She's 15 and I think it's about time the three eldest did it by themselves. Besides, it gave me a perfect half hour in the waiting room with a good book! I'm reading a proof copy of Harriet Evan's The Butterfly Summer. It's really good! I'm a about a third of the way through it and I'm really loving the quirky, eccentric characters and the fairy-tale feel of the story. I won it in a Goodreads giveaway, and having not won a book from there for a long time, I was really happy to win that one.
Have started planning for book 7. I had one idea all ready to be fleshed out into a chapter breakdown, but I couldn't make the story come out yet. I'm not sure I'm ready to write that book, so I went back to an idea I initially wanted to write for my second book! Obviously, His Perfect Bride? was born instead and this idea has sat waiting patiently for about a year.
Am thrilled that A Father This Christmas? is still doing really well, sales wise, especially in the US. I met a reader today and she was gushing with praise for my stories, which thrilled me no end and she said of all the books, A Father This Christmas? was her favourite, hands down! She said there was just something about that story that touched her heart and that she couldn't wait for my next title Seven Nights With Her Ex, due to come out in August!
So, hope everyone out there is doing well. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of the people killed or injured in the blasts in Brussels today. Such terrible news. Stay safe, everyone.
